The Top 5 hidden gems in Miami

Based on my experience living in Miami I have come to realize that it it not just all white sandy beaches and palm trees. But within the roots of the the city jumps vibrant with culture. Along with its geographical makeup allows this city to thrive in most ways all year around that most cites can’t. These are the where you get to escape from the tourist vibes and really enjoy Miami for what is has to offer. Here are 5 of my favorites that you should definitely check out when you are in town. And if you live here I hope you take advantage of it!

Oleta State Park

  • This is at the top of my list because it hides in plain sight! A chain of islands right in the middle of Biscayne bay that may look like a bunch of trees on the outside perimeter but on the inner part hides biking and walking trails, picnic areas and even camping grounds!. Who would have thought you can experience the great outdoors while living in a huge metropolitan area.

  • Dry Tortuga National Park

  • If you love marine life then this place is definitely for you! This location hold the first ever fort built in the United States. Formerly known as Fort Jefferson, The Dry Tortuga's are a small chain of islands, located in the Gulf of Mexico at the end of the Florida Keys. Here you can find non motorized water activities like snorkeling and fishing. Swim around the beautiful crystal turquoise waters and witness the beauty of coral reefs surrounding the island. Now they would not call it Dry Tortuga Park for a reason without having a few sea turtles hanging around so don't be shy if you see one! You are allowed to take pictures with the sea turtles. But the park asks that you do not feed them it is for your own safety.

  • Biscayne National Park

  • This one is an oldie but goodie! Especially for marine life lovers out there. A watery wonderland within sight of downtown Miami, yet worlds away. The Park holds a unique combo of emerald glistening islands, coral reefs for scuba divers, and waters so clear you can see straight through the bottom! Be able to say that you have witnessed over 10,000 years of human history, at this local getaway; from legendary pirate stories from one of guides, to an array of shipwrecks found throughout the island Biscayne National Park has a little to offer for everyone to enjoy. Outdoor enthusiasts can boat/yacht, snorkel, camp, watch wildlife in the moon-lit sky, or simply relax in a rocking chair gazing out over the bay.

  • Lyric Theater in Historic Overtown

  • Music lovers this one's for you! If there is one thing that makes Miami stand out it would definitely be because of their music. Vibrant upbeat vibes pulsate through this wonderful city which creates the identity of a lost soul finding their way through music. This place holds a lot a natural, raw talent, from actors, and comedians, to singers and performers. On certain days you can go enjoy a play acted out by Miami's top local actors, or witness a ballad from a future up and coming artist on their amateur nights which are hosted every Friday. Check out their website if you would like to book one of these events during your stay in Miami. https://www.bahlt.org/

  • Schnebly Redland's Winery & Brewery

  • Wine in Florida? That was the first first thing I said until I actually went to this place . Located in Homestead, FL approx 45 mins driving distance from Miami this venue is sure to fall in love with! For beer and wine connoisseurs it is a great place to appreciate the flavor of south Florida in a glass. You'll be able to come across some beverages you will not find anywhere else in the world; talk about exclusivity! Take home a bottle of wine to share an experience with your loved ones back home. Wine And Beer tours are also offered here along with a beautiful restaurant to satisfy your hunger after all of the booziness haha. This spot is perfect for dates and couples to enjoy as well so prepare your taste buds for an unforgettable romantic experience

If you were enjoy any of these wonderful places here in Miami please send me your feedback! I love to hear the stories and memories that people create that will last them for a lifetime. :) Sometimes we look to closely at things instead of stepping back a little and really appreciating what we really have in front us. I hope that you are able to appreciate these places just like I do. Please like, share & subscribe if you be updated with more ideas, places to visit, and become inspired to travel more often!
